Mental and Emotional First Aid Support to the Ski Area First Responders of the Sierra Nevada.

Resiliency Teams

  • A Resiliency Team is a peer-based support group made up of individuals with shared experiences in mountain operations—such as ski patrol and dispatch—who come together to offer guidance, encouragement, and emotional support. These teams help build resilience and promote recovery from stress, trauma, and mental health challenges that can arise in high-pressure environments.

Grounded in mutual understanding and trust, Resiliency Teams empower members to navigate difficult situations with strength and clarity. By sharing relatable insights and practical advice, they offer a level of connection and support that complements—but does not replace—clinical care. Their lived experience allows them to respond with empathy and authenticity, creating a safe space for healing and growth.

    • Peer Support: Offering a safe space for team members to talk through difficult experiences, especially after emergencies or high-pressure situations.

    • Post-Incident Debriefing: Facilitating structured conversations to help staff process events, learn from them, and move forward.

    • Mental Health Advocacy: Connecting individuals with wellness resources and encouraging proactive self-care.

    • Team Cohesion: Building trust and communication among patrol and dispatch teams to improve morale and operational effectiveness.

    • Preparedness & Recovery: Helping teams build resilience before incidents occur and supporting recovery afterward.
